The last few days have been some rough ones, with the death of our 5 year old family dog, Bear. Sunday night he was hit by a car and passed away as my parents and sister were pulling up to the vet. It is situations like this that cause us ask God why did that happen? Though I do not know the answer to that question I do know that we need to constantly trust that the Lord has a bigger picture and is going to take car of us. I have been so sad the last few days crying on and off just remembering how much Bear meant to me and how I will miss snuggling up with him on the floor the weekends I come home.\u00a0With all that being said, I decided yesterday morning that I was going to treat myself with some Starbucks<\/strong> before getting to work. (Confession time: A grande iced coffee with nonfat milk, white mocha, extra shot of expresso, and light ice is my absolute favorite!!!)<\/strong>\u00a0Since I am about to compete for Miss Oklahoma USA in December I made a deal with myself a few weeks ago no more coffee, but yesterday I splurged! Sometimes you have to just treat yourself, it’s not going to kill you! I ordered my coffee just like I did every other time- I ordered my drink, waited in line, and then pulled up to the window to pay. When I pulled up the the window the young guy handed me my drink and as I went to hand him my card he said “Hey don’t worry about it! The woman in front of you just paid for yours!” I gasped and then proceeded to freak out a little bit. He went on to say “That woman was a total saint. I think she was for real a guardian angel… I have never had an encounter with a lady like her before, it was crazy!” Me, still freaking out inside just kept saying “Wow, how nice.. thank you..” and drove off with a free drink and a total new outlook to my sad day. Talk about a day maker! So…<\/strong> This morning I had a few more minutes to spare before getting to work so I decided to stop again for coffee (cause why not, who says I can’t splurge two days in a row?!) Again, I ordered my drink, waited in line, and then pulled up to the window to pay. As I handed the girl my card she looked at me and said “Oh no, it’s okay the lady in front of you just paid for your drink!” She must have gotten scared at this point because I was freaking out now saying “Are you serious? Is this a joke?! the EXACT same thing happened to me yesterday?!?!” She couldn’t believe it either! She laughed, handed me my drink and said “Wow, girl this must be your lucky week!” Still in shock, I took my drink and drove off with a heart so full of gratefulness I just sat there with my mouth wide open in shock that this had just happened two days in a row?!<\/p>\n

Many people would say when something like this happens, wow what a crazy coincidence but I say no, that is not random. That is the Lord sprinkling little blessings on us using other people as vessels to give us a little boost and encouragement when we need it. I share this story with everyone not to brag or be boastful on something cool that happened to me but to say a kind gesture can go a long way. The two ladies that bought my drinks probably didn’t know me, didn’t know my dog just died, or that the person behind them in the Starbucks<\/strong> line was having a rough week. But the Lord did. What those ladies did know is that even something so simple as buying someone’s coffee would put a smile on their face and make their morning. What happened to me the last two days is something that will stick with me for years. Spreading kindness is something that rubs off on people and can potentially change someone’s life. I know the Lord blessed me through these women and that makes me want to bless other people. \u00a0It’s almost like a domino effect. If you take anything from this post, I pray that when you feel prompted to bless someone DO IT<\/strong>! Whether that be buying their coffee, giving them a compliment, or just giving them your time. One of the worst things to withhold from someone is a blessing. You never know what someone is going through so pay attention and when you feel the prompting\u00a0BLESS<\/strong> them. You could just change a life.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
